New Mercedes-Benz available to lease at Mercedes-Benz of El Cajon

Leasing puts you behind the wheel of a new Mercedes-Benz with the flexibility to step into a newer model in a few years. At Mercedes-Benz of El Cajon, our leasing team works with drivers across El Cajon, San Diego, La Mesa, Bonita, Chula Vista, Escondido, and Santee to structure a lease around how you actually drive.

Leasing or Financing: Which Fits You?

Financing suits drivers who plan to keep a vehicle long term and drive without mileage limits. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services offers finance terms from 24 to 72 months, available in most states, along with Retail Balloon Financing. Leasing, offered under the First Class Lease® program, typically carries an equal or lower monthly payment than purchasing the same type of vehicle, and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services will customize your mileage allowance and lease term to suit your driving profile, though certain limits apply. Our specialists can walk you through either path alongside the rest of our finance department options.

Starting Your Lease

You will submit a credit application through Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, and our team handles the process from there. Bring the following to the showroom:

Driver’s License

A valid driver’s license.

Proof of Insurance

Proof of current auto insurance.

Form of Payment

A form of payment.

Trade-In Paperwork

Title and registration for your trade-in, if applicable.

Trade-In Estimate

Your trade-in estimate, if you are trading a vehicle.

Account Number

Your account number, if your trade-in is a current loan or lease.

During Your Lease

Your lease agreement generally requires the following minimum coverage levels throughout the term.

Coverage Minimum Required
Bodily injury liability, per person $100,000
Bodily injury liability, per occurrence $300,000
Property damage liability $50,000
Comprehensive and collision Actual cash value of the vehicle
Maximum allowed deductible $2,500

Mercedes-Benz Vehicle Trust must also be listed on your comprehensive and collision coverage as the loss payee, and as additional insured on your liability coverage.

Your lease also carries a GAP waiver. If the vehicle is declared a total loss, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services waives the difference between the actual cash value paid by your insurer and the net outstanding balance owed on your lease. That protection applies as long as your insurance is in place at the time of the loss and your lease payments are current up to the time Mercedes-Benz Financial Services receives the proceeds from your insurance company, and you remain responsible for an amount equal to your policy deductible.

One more term worth knowing before you sign: leased vehicles are restricted to the United States, though you may take yours into Canada or Mexico for trips of 30 days or less.

Managing Your Payments

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services offers several ways to pay:

Auto Pay

Deducts your payment automatically from your bank account each month.

Online Pay

One-time or recurring payments through your account at mbfs.com.

Mobile

Payments through the Mercedes-Benz Finance app.

Payments by phone and by mail are also available. If your due date does not line up with your pay schedule, you can move it to any day from the 1st through the 28th. Your account must be current, only one change is permitted per month, and the change takes effect the following month. There is no fee for a shift of 1 to 10 days; shifts of 11 to 28 days require a fee. Moving your due date does not extend the maturity date on a lease account.

When Your Lease Ends

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services calls the lease-end process First Class Finish. As maturity approaches, you first review your options with our team or with the Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Lease Maturity Department, and you have two: return the vehicle, or purchase it for the price set in your lease agreement. Once you have made that decision, the return process begins approximately four months before your lease matures.

From there, you will schedule a complimentary pre-inspection with OPENLANE, the independent third-party inspection company used by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, at home, at work, or another location you choose. You then review the pre-inspection results and can discuss repairing any excess wear-and-use items with us in advance of your return date.

You can gauge exterior condition yourself beforehand using The Credit Card Test®, a Mercedes-Benz Financial Services tool. In general, if exterior damage cannot be seen when a standard-size credit card is placed over it, you will not be charged for it.

If you are returning the vehicle and moving into another Mercedes-Benz, our team manages that transition. Your final lease-end statement will detail any mileage overage, any excess wear-and-use charges, and any applicable vehicle turn-in fee.
