Standard Active Safety Systems in the 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLC
Every 2026 GLC arrives with a core group of collision-avoidance systems. Mercedes-Benz does not reserve them for upper configurations. The equipment below is standard from the entry GLC 300 through the AMG GLC 63 S E PERFORMANCE.
Active Brake Assist
Active Brake Assist is the primary defense. It monitors the road ahead. When it detects a developing frontal collision with a vehicle or a pedestrian, it warns the driver. It can also apply autonomous emergency braking to reduce or avoid the impact. Adaptive braking technology supports it. It adjusts braking behavior to conditions and driver input.
ATTENTION ASSIST and Blind Spot Assist
ATTENTION ASSIST monitors driving behavior for patterns linked to drowsiness. It then prompts the driver to take a break. Blind Spot Assist watches the adjacent lanes. It signals when another vehicle occupies the space a driver is about to move into. That matters on multi-lane corridors like Interstate 8 and State Route 125. Its Exit Warning Assist function extends that awareness to the moment of exit. It alerts occupants who begin opening a door as a vehicle, cyclist, or pedestrian approaches from behind.
PRE-SAFE and Passive Protection
PRE-SAFE addresses the seconds before an unavoidable impact. It was a Mercedes-Benz first. The system can detect instability during certain maneuvers that suggest a collision or rollover is imminent. It can then tighten the front seat belts, adjust the front passenger seat, and close the windows and sunroof. The goal is to better prepare the occupants and the restraint systems. If no accident occurs, the belt tensioners reverse and the driver simply readjusts. Passive protection is equally deliberate. The GLC carries seven air bags. One of them is a front center air bag, set between the driver and front passenger to reduce occupant-to-occupant contact in a severe side impact.

Evasive Steering Assist
